The Brighton Babes

‘The Brighton Babes’ was a fun commission from a new mum who wanted to create something special to celebrate a year of parenting with her friends, who all had their first babies around the same time. Robyn came to me with great ideas and suggestions, which we honed through the briefing process.

She wanted to depict the personalities of the children and locate them firmly in their seaside home town of Brighton.

I researched online and came up with the idea of combining the mini portraits with a vintage seaside poster theme, selecting the famous fairground at the end of Brighton Pier as an appropriately childhood-themed image to use in the centre.

Robyn loved the idea and after a few rounds of edits to capture the personalities and interests of the children, we soon had something we were both really happy with.

The finished piece was printed, framed and presented to Robyn’s friends at a party to celebrate a year of parental solidarity, and the joy of watching their children grow in strength and personality.

Testimonial

“Working with Bex was a dream…. I thought my brief might be a bit off piste for her, but she brought so many ideas, and such creativity to the table. I ended up with a final piece of art that is so much better than anything I’d hoped for, and the process was slick, easy, professional and importantly, fun! Would recommend working with Bex to anyone, she is super talented and an utter delight.”
