I’m Bex Gilbert - an illustrator and live graphic recorder for events, based in Bristol, available to work throughout the UK and (remotely) worldwide.
I work with individuals, businesses, charities, universities and a wide range of other organisations to capture the mood and content of live events, as they happen, giving you a colourful and engaging record, to keep the conversations going afterwards.
I enjoy working with ethical businesses, educational establishments and good causes on projects that focus on people, planet and purpose. I help depict ideas and work in a way that’s colourful, emotive and memorable, putting the personality of your people at the heart of what I create, so it’s more engaging.
Before becoming a full-time illustrator and graphic recorder, I spent decades honing my skills in journalism and charity communications, including as Head of News for the British Red Cross.
My illustration practice is highly informed by a working life spent listening to people’s experiences, asking the right questions, and synthesising complex information into clear, compelling stories and narratives. Whatever I’m doing I’m driven by a deep curiosity about and respect for people and purpose, and a desire to depict them not just as they look, but as they are.

“Working with Bex was a dream…. I thought my brief might be a bit off piste for her, but she brought so many ideas, and such creativity to the table. I ended up with a final piece of art that is so much better than anything I’d hoped for, and the process was slick, easy, professional and importantly, fun! Would recommend working with Bex to anyone, she is super talented and an utter delight.”

“Following on from a presentation I did, Bex did this live drawing and it truly shows more about not just my business but also a bit about me which you might not know. Thanks Bex!”

“We had the pleasure of working with Bex Gilbert at our recent client event, 90 Day Focus, where she provided live illustration throughout the day. Bex was incredibly professional—arriving early, setting up discreetly, and quietly capturing the essence of the event through her beautiful illustrations.
Though she worked from the edge of the room, her artwork quickly became the focal point during breaks, sparking conversations and admiration from attendees. She managed to distill the energy, insights, and key moments of the day into a series of unique and engaging visuals.
I would highly recommend Bex for live illustration at any event—whether business or personal. Her presence is calm, her process seamless, and her final work truly memorable.”
Jo Rolliston, from TPS Business Coaching.
“What you created is simply beyond brilliant and will help our marketing way above anything I could have possibly imagined! You’re a genius Bex.”

“Bex Gilbert is dynamic, inspiring, professional and so creative.
“Bex took the concept, researched the panellists, created headshots of them before the event then arrived bright and early full of enthusiasm to capture the moment.
“Bex is easy to work with, so approachable, fun and professional and I would very much recommend her.
“She brings an exciting and new dynamic to meetings and events and encapsulates the moment in a unique way providing those attending and involved with a beautiful reminder of the event and a legacy.”
James Godman - CEO, Creator and Director of the Frome International Climate Film Festival
“Bex took on the very challenging task of producing some illustrations to bring the idea of fairness to life. She did a fabulous job of communicating some quite nebulous concepts in really striking, concrete ways that managed at the same time to be original, faithful to the brief, and consistent with our broader branding. We’ve had some great feedback on her illustrations and I’d highly recommend her to other nonprofit clients looking for illustrations that stand out from the crowd.”
Will Snell, Chief Executive of the Fairness Foundation.
“Bex showed incredible attention to detail and took the time to really understand the core message I was trying to express. Every element in the illustration felt thoughtfully crafted and perfectly aligned with the tone of my presentation.
The final result is not only beautiful but also incredibly meaningful and true to my original concept. I’m truly grateful for Bex’s dedication and would absolutely recommend her work to anyone looking for a talented, professional illustrator.”

“Bex did a fabulous infographic for me. I was impressed with how quickly she came up with ten illustrations to go alongside my tips. She also helped refine the copy to be more punchy. I had a few changes I needed and she was able to return them promptly and matched my specification well. The final infographic was full of personality and was a wonderfully unique way to captivate my audience. Highly recommend.”
